Psalm 86
A Prayer of David.
Incline your ear to me, O LORD, answer me;
I'm needy, afflicted and poor as can be.
Protect me and guard me, I'm faithful and true;
my God, I'm your servant who's trusting in you.
Be gracious to me, LORD, all day do I cry;
bring joy to your servant, I lift my soul high.
O LORD, you are good and forgiving to all;
abounding in love to whomever would call.
Give ear to my prayer, LORD, attend to my plea;
whenever I've called, you've responded to me.
Among other gods, there is no one like you;
and nothing compares to the works that you do.
All nations you've made will bow down at your feet;
O LORD, they will praise you and your name repeat.
Because you are great and your wonders are known,
O God, you're the true God who stands all alone.
LORD, show me your way, let your truth take control;
make me fear your name in my heart and my soul.
With all of my heart will I praise you, my God;
forever your name praised with glory and laud.
How great is your love and your mercy as well,
for you have saved me from the clutches of hell.
My arrogant foes rise against me again;
my life is pursued by the violence of men.
They have no regard for you, nor seek your face;
but you are a merciful God, full of grace.
You're slow to show anger from all that we do;
abounding in love and compassion are you.
Look down and be gracious, show mercy to me;
and give of your strength to this servant you see,
the son of your servant who's served you before.
LORD, show me a sign of your favor once more
that my foes could see and be shamed and distressed,
because you have helped me, and I have been blessed.
Incline your ear to me, O LORD, answer me;
I'm needy, afflicted and poor as can be.
Protect me and guard me, I'm faithful and true;
my God, I'm your servant who's trusting in you.
