Psalm 85
For the choirmaster. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
O LORD, you've shown grace to your land, Israel;
you've brought back the captives to Jacob, as well.
Forgiving the guilt of your people — oh, yes
you've covered their sin and their unrighteousness.
Selah [Interlude]
Withdrawing your fury, you held back your ire;
you turned from your anger and tempered your fire.
Restore us again, God our Savior, restore;
abandon your anger toward us, like before.
Will you be forever enraged and so vexed?
Will you still be angry with those who come next?
Will you not return and revive us again,
so that those you love might rejoice in you then?
LORD, show us your mercy, your kindness and love;
and grant us salvation and aid from above.
I'll carefully hear what the LORD God has said,
he speaks to his people of peace, not of dread.
He's promised his saints that his peace will remain
unless they return to their folly again.
For those who would fear him, salvation's at hand,
so, his brilliant glory might dwell in our land.
Both mercy and faith, hand in hand, co-exist;
and goodness and peace have united and kissed.
True faithfulness springs up from out of the ground;
and righteousness, high in the heavens, looks down.
Great blessings of goodness from heaven are poured,
producing abundance of crops from the LORD.
And righteousness walks before him, up ahead,
preparing the way for his footsteps to tread.
