Psalm 76
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.
In Judah, God's known and renowned;
his name's great throughout Israel.
In Salem, his tent can be found;
Mount Zion, where he chose to dwell.
He broke flaming arrows they bore,
their shields, swords, and weapons of war.
Selah [Interlude]
Resplendent with glorious light,
far better than mountains of prey.
The valiant, asleep from the fight;
no more can men move hands to slay.
Rebuke, God of Jacob, at will;
both horse and its rider lay still.
No wonder the world is afraid!
Who stands once your anger has blazed?
From heaven your judgements are made;
in fear, all the earth stands amazed.
You rise, God, to judge man's full worth,
to rescue the meek of the earth.
Selah [Interlude]
Man's wrath surely brings you more laud,
their rage that remains is your sword.
Make vows and fulfill them to God;
bring gifts to the One, Awesome LORD.
He'll cut off the princes of birth;
he's feared by the kings of the earth.
