Psalm 4
For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
Answer when I seek your face,
O God of hope and righteousness;
give relief to my distress,
please hear my prayer and grant me grace.
How long will you people turn
my honor into utter shame?
How long will you love to claim
these evil lies for which you yearn?
Selah [Interlude]
Listen to these words I say:
the LORD Jehovah sets apart
those who seek him with their heart;
the LORD will hear me when I pray.
Stand in awe, and yet sin not,
communing with your heart and head,
meditate upon your bed,
reflecting in your quiet thought.
Selah [Interlude]
Offer up what's due and right,
and trust Jehovah as you should.
Many ask, Who shows us good?
O LORD, shine down on us your light.
Joys you've given me excel
beyond their grain's and wine's increase.
I'll lie down and sleep in peace;
in you, alone, I safely dwell.
