Psalm 32
A Maskil of David.
How blest is the man who's forgiven transgressions,
whose sins have been covered from sight;
his guilt unremembered because of confessions,
whose spirit is grieved and contrite.
When I remained silent, my bones felt much older
from groaning till day was complete.
I constantly felt your hand weigh on my shoulder;
my strength sapped like summertime heat.
I finally confessed all the sins I kept hidden,
and said, LORD, where do I begin?
My wrongs were admitted, and I was forgiven,
and cleansed from the guilt of my sin.
Let prayers of the faithful reach you in their moment
when drowning, unable to cope.
You hide and preserve me when troubled times foment;
surround me with anthems of hope.
I'll teach you and guide you and give you direction;
instruct and advise, the LORD said.
Don't mimic the horse or the mule's intellection,
with bridle and bit are they led.
The wicked will suffer much sorrow and mayhem;
the LORD loves those giving him trust.
Be glad in Jehovah, all you who obey him!
Shout joy, everyone who is just!
