Psalm 25

A psalm of David.

In your hand, Jehovah, has my soul been placed;
O God, I have trusted you, wholly, complete.
Don’t let me be shamed for this trust, nor disgraced;
and let not my foes gloat or cheer my defeat.
Indeed, all who trust you will not be debased;
let shame overwhelm those who deal in deceit.

Oh, show me your paths, LORD, and make your ways known.
Instruct me and guide me in your truth, I pray;
for you are the God who has saved me, alone.
In you will I trust in and hope in all day.
Remember your mercy and love that you’ve shown;
eternal and ancient — still showing your way.

Do not hold against me my misdeeds of yore,
nor any transgressions I currently make.
Remember your mercy for me that you swore;
remember, Jehovah, for your goodness’ sake.
The LORD is both righteous and holy; therefore,
by showing the lost just which path they should take.

The humble are guided in doing what’s right;
he teaches the simple that his ways are straight.
The LORD’s paths are loving and seen black or white,
to those who obey him without a debate.
Because of your name, LORD, am I now contrite;
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

Who, then, are the men who have fear for the LORD?
He’ll show them the paths they should go — that he’s planned.
They’ll prosper and live lives in peaceful accord;
their offspring and seed will inherit the land.
Those fearing the LORD have this secret reward:
his intimate friendship is at their command.

I look to you always — it's you whom I chase,
for you have delivered my feet from the net.
Turn toward me, Jehovah, with mercy and grace,
for I am alone and am greatly upset.
Oh, save me from all of these troubles I face.
Consider my anguish; forgive and forget.

Consider my foes, how they violently hate.
Protect me and guard me; don’t let them bring shame.
In you I take refuge; in you rests my fate.
Let virtue and goodness protect my weak frame;
because you’re my hope, LORD, on you will I wait.
Deliver, God, Isr'el from all their pain!
