Psalm 143
A Psalm of David.
Oh, hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my plea;
be righteous and faithful, with grace answer me.
Do not bring your servant to court to be tried,
for in your eyes no one can be justified.
My foes have pursued me, and they've knocked me down,
in darkness I dwell like those dead underground.
I feel overwhelmed, hope continues to fade;
my feelings are numb, and my heart is dismayed.
Recalling the old days when you worked your will,
I ponder and marvel the things you do still.
For you, O Jehovah, I stretch out my hand;
my soul thirsts for you like a dry, thirsty land.
Selah [Interlude]
Come quickly, LORD, answer — I'm starting to cave;
hide not from me lest I be soon in my grave.
Let morning bring word of your unfailing love,
for I trust in you, LORD, and you are enough.
Now show me your way and I'll lift my soul high;
save me from my foe, LORD, on you I rely.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!
Your Spirit leads me to land: level and broad.
Because of your name, LORD, preserve now my life.
And justly remove my soul's troubles and strife.
Because of your faithfulness, my foes must die
with those who afflict me — your servant am I.
Oh, hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my plea;

Do not bring your servant to court to be tried,
