Psalm 142
A Contemplation of David. A Prayer when he was in the cave.
I cry out to the LORD, and I plead for his mercy;
before him, I have poured out my anguished complaint.
Before him, I've declared and revealed all my troubles;
oh, you know what I need when my spirit grows faint.
In the path that I walk, people keep their snares hidden.
Look and see, there is none that will give me a glance!
No one cares, no one helps, I've no refuge remaining;
there is no one concerned with my soul — not a chance!
Then I pray to you, LORD, and say, You are my refuge,
in the land of the living, my portion, I cry.
Hear me now, for I'm low; save me from my pursuers,
for they've proven to be so much stronger than I.
Free my soul, LORD, and bring me from out of my prison,
so that I may give thanks to your wonderful name!
Then the righteous will glory and gather around me
when they see that you've blessed me with God-given fame.
I cry out to the LORD, and I plead for his mercy;
before him, I have poured out my anguished complaint.
Before him, I've declared and revealed all my troubles;
oh, you know what I need when my spirit grows faint.
In the path that I walk, people keep their snares hidden.
