Psalm 141
A Psalm of David.
I am calling on you, LORD Jehovah, come quickly!
Give your ear to my plea as I grieve for my plight.
Let my prayer come before you as sweet-smelling incense,
and my raised hands as sacrifice offered each night.
LORD, control what I say; guard my lips as a doorway.
Let my heart not be drawn to their evil with ease,
neither gather together with those who are wicked;
and do not let me eat of their delicacies!
Let a righteous man strike me — for that would be kindness!
Let that man still rebuke me — as oil for my head!
It is soothing, anointing — my head won't refuse it,
yet I'll pray against deeds of the wicked instead.
When their rulers and judges are thrown over cliff sides,
then the wicked will find that my words had some worth.
So, our bones at the mouth of the grave have been scattered,
as when one plows the field and breaks open the earth.
For my eyes are now fixed upon you, LORD Jehovah;
it's in you that I turn to for refuge and aid;
do not pour out my life, neither leave me defenseless.
Keep me safe from the traps that the wicked have laid.
Yes, LORD, keep me from jaws of the traps of the wicked,
from the snares they have laid and the lures that they try.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets and suffer,
while you help me escape and I safely pass by.
