Psalm 123
A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes to you, O God, alone;
to you who, in heaven, now sits on your throne.
As slaves watch the hand of their master to move,
as servant girls watch should their mistress approve,
so, we watch the LORD for his mercy and love.
Have mercy on us, LORD, extend us your grace,
for we have endured their contempt in our face.
Our soul has been filled with their scorn without end,
and so much disdain by those arrogant men.
I lift up my eyes to you, O God, alone;
to you who, in heaven, now sits on your throne.
