Proverbs 14
A wise woman builds her house, making it sound,
but foolish ones, with their hands, tear it all down.
Those fearing the LORD will walk upright and straight,
but those who are crooked will show him their hate.
From mouths of the foolish come rods full of pride,
but lips of the wise will, a safeguard, provide.
A crib, without oxen, is a bare, wooden box,
but harvests are great by the strength of an ox.
A witness who's honest will never deceive,
but dishonest witnesses lie as they breathe.
A scorner seeks wisdom he cannot attain,
but knowledge is easy for prudent to gain.
Stay clear of the fool — he has nothing to teach;
no knowledge is gained from his ludicrous speech.
The prudent give thought to the ways for their feet,
but fools, to their folly, believe their deceit.
Fools scoff at their guilt and their sin offering,
but just men find grace and forgiveness they bring.
The heart knows, alone, every pain that it bears,
its joys, neither friend nor the foreigner shares.
The houses of ungodly men won't survive,
but tents of the righteous shall flourish and thrive.
It seems unto man there's a right way to go,
but it leads to death that no man can foreknow.
For laughter may hide the heart's sorrow and pain,
and once joy has ended, then grief might remain.
The fool will be fully repaid what he's due,
the just will be happy with their rewards, too.
The simple believe every word that is said,
but prudent consider their pathway ahead.
The wise fear the LORD and avoid evil's snare,
but arrogant fools plunge ahead without care.
A quick-tempered person does things ill-advised,
and men plotting evil are loathed and despised.
The simple inherit the folly they've spread,
but knowledge is crowned on the prudent man's head.
Before righteous men will the evil bow down,
at gates of the just, wicked bow to the ground.
The poor are despised by their neighbors so near,
but many are friends with the rich and are dear.
Despising your neighbor is sinful, indeed,
but blessed are those helping people in need.
Have they not been lost who plot schemes and deceive?
But kindness and truth will the faithful receive.
In labor there's profit, persistence for sure,
but mere talk is empty and make a man poor.
The wealth of the wise is a crown that they wear,
but fools produce folly that simpletons bear.
A witness who's truthful saves souls from defeat,
but one who breathes lies is one full of deceit.
Those fearing the LORD have a fortress, secure,
and their children will have a refuge that's sure.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain, a breath,
that offers escape from the trappings of death.
A large population's the glory of kings,
without them he's nothing, their ruin it brings.
The ones who are patient are wise and discerned,
but quick-tempered ones exalt folly they've churned.
A heart that's at peace gives the body its life,
but envy rots bones like a cancer that's rife.
Oppressing the poor taunts your Maker, indeed,
but honoring Him means you'd bless those in need.
The wicked are crushed with disaster in death,
but good men have refuge at their final breath.
In hearts of the prudent rests wisdom, alone,
but in the fool's heart wisdom is not made known.
A nation's exalted for righteousness' sake,
but sin's a disgrace for a people to make.
A king, with a servant who's wise, will be pleased,
but one causing shame will be punished when seized.
but foolish ones, with their hands, tear it all down.
Those fearing the LORD will walk upright and straight,
but those who are crooked will show him their hate.
