Proverbs 12
Whoever loves wisdom loves, also, reproof,
but stupid is he who cannot stand rebuke.
The LORD loves the good and shows favor to them,
but those who love evil, the LORD will condemn.
Sheer wickedness cannot establish a man,
but roots that the righteous have certainly can.
A good wife's the crown upon her husband's head,
but one who's disgraced is like cancer instead.
The thoughts of the righteous are honest and just,
but ungodly counsel — you never should trust!
The words of the wicked will ambush their prey,
but speech of the upright will save who they may.
The wicked will be overthrown and be gone;
but firm is the footing the righteous stand on.
A man will be praised for the sense he'll afford,
but those with perverted hearts shall be abhorred.
Far better the man with no servant himself,
than one full of pride with no food on the shelf.
The beasts of the righteous are shown great respect,
but grace from the wicked is merely neglect.
Those tilling the land will have plenty of food,
but those without sense have their daydreams pursued.
The thieves will be jealous of each other's loot,
but those who are godly will bear their own fruit.
The wicked are trapped by their own sinful tongue,
but those who are just escape troubles that come.
A man is rewarded by all that he's said,
by all he has done with his hands, he's repaid.
The way of the foolish seems right in his eyes,
but he who seeks counsel and listens is wise.
A fool is quick-tempered and known for the same,
but those who are prudent will cover their shame.
The witness that's honest has truth to declare,
but lies are the speech that false witnesses bear.
The reckless words pierce like a sword in one's palm,
but words from the wise produce healing and balm.
The lips speaking truth will forever endure,
but lying tongues last but a moment, for sure.
Deceit fill the man's heart whose plots never cease,
but joy follows those who have counseled for peace.
Misfortune will never harm those who are right,
but wicked men feel overwhelmed with their plight.
Jehovah detests lips that lie to the just,
but he will delight in the ones he can trust.
The one who is wise keeps his knowledge concealed,
but fools cannot wait till their folly's revealed.
The diligent hand will be chosen to rule,
but slaves will be made of the slothful and fool.
Anxiety strangles a man like a rope,
but kind words will cheer him and offer some hope.
The just guides his neighbors to walk the right way,
but paths of the wicked will lead them astray.
The lazy don't even roast prey that they land,
but precious to man is a diligent hand.
There's life in the pathway where righteousness leads,
no death will there be as the pathway proceeds.
