Proverbs 11
A dishonest scale is a thing the LORD hates,
but he will find favor in accurate weights.
When pride comes, it's followed by certain disgrace,
but with the meek, wisdom, is always the case.
Both courage and hope are as guides for the just,
but those who are faithless are ruined and crushed.
Your riches are worthless when wrath has its day,
but death's overcome when you live the right way.
The blameless men's righteousness keeps their paths straight,
but wicked men fall beneath their own sins' weight.
Their righteousness rescues the lives of the just,
but those who are evil are trapped by their lust.
When wicked men die, as do hopes that they sought,
the confidence they had in wealth comes to naught.
The righteous are rescued from trouble ahead,
the wicked walk into that trouble instead.
The mouth of the godless have their friends ensnared,
but by understanding, the righteous are spared.
The city rejoices when just men succeed,
and when wicked die there is gladness, indeed.
A city is built up by lips of the just,
but mouths of the wicked will raze it to dust.
Despising your neighbor next door makes no sense,
the wise hold their tongue without giving two cents.
A gossip lets secrets he knows be revealed,
but he who is faithful will keep things concealed.
A nation will fall when its leadership fails,
but counsel with many advisors prevails.
There's danger securing another man's debt,
but those who refuse to shake hands need not fret.
A woman who's gracious has honor attained,
but ruthless men only have riches they've gained.
The one who shows mercy rewards his own soul,
but cruel men destroy their flesh, taking a toll.
The wicked man's wage is deceptive and fast,
but those sowing goodness earn wages that last.
For those set on righteousness, life will be gained,
but those who do evil have death to attain.
Hearts full of perversion, Jehovah abhors,
but those that are righteous and just, he adores.
The wicked will surely be punished, indeed,
but seed of the righteous and just will be freed.
Like pigs that wear nose rings of gold — such a waste,
are fair women lacking discretion and taste.
Desires of the righteous will all turn out well,
but hopes of the wicked will perish in hell.
One person gives freely, yet gains even more,
another is stingy and he becomes poor.
Whoever is generous shall be enriched,
and he who gives water will, too, be refreshed.
The people will curse one who's hoarding the seed,
but blesses one selling in their time of need.
Whoever seeks goodness finds favor and grace,
but those who seek evil will meet face to face.
Those trusting in riches will never survive,
but those who are righteous, like green leaves, will thrive.
Those troubling their own house inherits the wind,
the fool will serve those who are wiser than him.
The seed of the just bears a life-giving tree,
and one who is wise wins souls diligently.
If righteous receive their reward here on earth,
just think what the sinner and wicked deserve!
but he will find favor in accurate weights.
