Oakley Jane
This year's brought so much, but mainly just fear
Describing the days of this dud of a year
Division, Depression, Disgust, and Dread
Distance, Disease, and dare I say Dead
But wait that's not all there is more to this year
We count down the days as your due date draws near
The Lord works in weird ways you will find out one day
Yes times will get tough but He'll show you the way
He's been planning your life before you were here
Through good times and bad He'll be there for you dear
Heaven's our home but here's where we stay
Where we fight for what's right and the wrong we let lay
One day I will hold you but always I'll pray
God makes you a child of His that won't stray
I pray for your health and even your humor
I pray for a dreamer but mostly a do-er
I pray for a man we'll call him your mate
But that one is tough since you cannot date
While I pray all these prayers and try not to stew
Your mom's been connecting and caring for you
I don't have that luxury or maybe that burden
But I know that she loves you, I know that is certain
She's generous, caring, and genuine too
I can't help but hope that she illustrates you
You'll be strong like a tree, the thought gave us your name
And your leaves they might fall on those cold winter days
But I hope that you know and always remember
This never expires but it starts this November
No matter the weather or even the stain
I'll love you forever, my sweet Oakley Jane
