Living Water
I give thee Living Water —
That has no end or source.
And naught can slow or stay its flow
Nor ever change its course.
Thy father's wells and cisterns
Dug out by their own hand,
Shall one day fail to fill thy pail
With anything but sand.
And everyone who drinks it
Shall thirst for more again;
But, water I have satisfies
The thirsty souls of men.
I am this Living Water —
Child, come and drink thy fill.
Stretch forth thy cup — I'll fill it up
And let the surplus spill.
For bubbling up within thee,
An everlasting well;
Eternal light against the night,
And vict'ry over hell.
There's freedom in the fountain,
And healing in its flow.
I offer thee this gift that's free
Because I love thee so.
That has no end or source.
And naught can slow or stay its flow
Nor ever change its course.
Thy father's wells and cisterns
Dug out by their own hand,
Shall one day fail to fill thy pail
With anything but sand.
And everyone who drinks it
Shall thirst for more again;
But, water I have satisfies
The thirsty souls of men.
I am this Living Water —
Child, come and drink thy fill.
Stretch forth thy cup — I'll fill it up
And let the surplus spill.
For bubbling up within thee,
An everlasting well;
Eternal light against the night,
And vict'ry over hell.
There's freedom in the fountain,
And healing in its flow.
I offer thee this gift that's free
Because I love thee so.
"but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
