God of Promise
I am the God of Promise —
Who covenants with thee.
From Abraham, thou art the sand —
Unnumbered by the sea.
Throughout thy desert journey,
And thy captivity,
I never swayed although thou strayed.
But still I wait for thee.
Oh, Zion, I remember.
Oh, Gilead, there’s balm.
Thy names are saved for they’re engraved
Upon My open palm.
I am the God of Promise —
Who covenants with thee.
I sent My Son, the promised One,
To set the nations free.
He broke the grip of evil,
And certain death it brought.
But still, thou must, in Jesus trust
Or all shall be for naught.
Not all will enter heaven,
Nor some that think they might.
But those I’ve saved, with names engraved
Within the Book of Life.
Who covenants with thee.
From Abraham, thou art the sand —
Unnumbered by the sea.
Throughout thy desert journey,
And thy captivity,
I never swayed although thou strayed.
But still I wait for thee.
Oh, Zion, I remember.
Oh, Gilead, there’s balm.
Thy names are saved for they’re engraved
Upon My open palm.
I am the God of Promise —
Who covenants with thee.
I sent My Son, the promised One,
To set the nations free.
He broke the grip of evil,
And certain death it brought.
But still, thou must, in Jesus trust
Or all shall be for naught.
Not all will enter heaven,
Nor some that think they might.
But those I’ve saved, with names engraved
Within the Book of Life.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
