Gone
Gone is my Lord from the cross where He hung,
Gone is the cross where He died;
All that is left are the grieved and bereft
As they mourn for the One crucified.
Those who were weak or too fearful to speak,
Are remorseful with those who denied.
Gone is my Lord from the tomb where He lay,
Gone is the stone from the door;
All that remains are the cold, crimson stains
On the shroud that my dear Jesus wore.
His hands and feet — they have bloodied the sheet,
Where it lays on the sepulcher floor.
Gone is my Lord from the world that He loved,
Gone is the Savior of men;
Now in His place, He leaves power and grace
And a promise to come back again.
Morning and night — we must ready our flight,
For He’ll come — but we do not know when.
Gone is my sin and my hopeless estate,
Gone is my blood sacrifice;
Sinless was He — yet He perished for me,
And He promises me paradise.
His life for mine — is a love redefined.
Yes, I’m bought with a terrible price.
