Matthew 25:28; Romans 9:20-21; 1 Corinthians 9:25
I’ve given each of you marvelous talents,
making my body complete;
so many functioning pieces in balance —
you are my hands and my feet.
Do not compare what you have with another —
do what I want you to do!
You and your gifts are unique from your brother;
there will be only one you.
Some gifts I’ve given have gone undiscovered;
others are simply unused.
Talents rejected — I’ll give to another.
Why have my gifts been refused?
Got the wrong gift? What’s your justification?
What, to your God, can you say?
When does creator give ear to creation?
Why did I make you this way?
Surely the potter can do as he pleases,
spinning and turning his wheel;
splitting the clay in a number of pieces
making whatever he feels.
Taking two portions he’s thoughtfully measured,
molding and shaping his will.
One of them may be a jar to be treasured;
one is a bowl to hold swill.
Athletes will train for a glorious finish,
winning gold medals that rust.
Gifts used for heaven will never diminish,
nor will the prize turn to dust.

2 Corinthians 10:12 (NIV)
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

Romans 9:20-21 (NJB)
What right have you, a human being, to cross-examine God? The pot has no right to say to the potter: “Why did you make me this shape?” Surely a potter can do what he likes with the clay!

They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.
