The Road to Bethlehem
They took the road to Bethlehem —
this carpenter from Galilee;
his fiancée, who by the way,
was nearing full-term pregnancy!
But, angels said they'd be okay —
their child would save the world one day.
They took the road to Bethlehem —
these shepherds from a distant hill;
with nervous laughs — hands gripping staffs —
they seem a little shaken still!
And, did the angels really say
they'd find him in a crib of hay?
They took the road to Bethlehem —
those magi from the rising sun;
from desert home to Herod's throne,
their journey's only halfway done.
How strange the Jewish king would say
he'd kneel before this child one day.
They took the road to Bethlehem —
the soldiers from King Herod's force;
the king's deceit has met defeat:
the wise men chose a different course.
When hate meets love — love always wins!
And, so the road to love begins.
