The Precious Gift of Love
This season give the gift of peace
To some poor weary life;
Tranquility to help decrease
Their busyness and strife.
And may you send the gift of hope
To some dear soul this year;
The confidence to help them cope
With doubtfulness and fear.
And may you share the gift of joy —
The smile of laughing fun,
With some unhappy girl or boy
And with those who have none.
And may you bring the gift, indeed,
Of comfort and relief
To those who are in dire need
Of solace, lost in grief.
And may you spend the gift of time
With those in need of you;
Rewards are great and so sublime —
The moments spent are few.
But most of all, dear friend, bestow
That precious gift of love,
The love God gave when, long ago,
His Son came from above.
A gift with no thought of return,
So absolutely free;
A gift one cannot buy or earn:
Love cannot have a fee!
Now as we celebrate Christ’s birth
I trust we keep in mind,
That no gift in this world is worth
God’s gift to all mankind.
To some poor weary life;
Tranquility to help decrease
Their busyness and strife.
And may you send the gift of hope
To some dear soul this year;
The confidence to help them cope
With doubtfulness and fear.
And may you share the gift of joy —
The smile of laughing fun,
With some unhappy girl or boy
And with those who have none.
And may you bring the gift, indeed,
Of comfort and relief
To those who are in dire need
Of solace, lost in grief.
And may you spend the gift of time
With those in need of you;
