Said the Risen
Said the traitor to the posse, I’ll deliver whom you seek.
You will know him on my signal — I will kiss him on the cheek.
Said the panicked to the maiden, I don’t know who that man is.
You mistake me for another — for I am no friend of his.
Said the puppet to the rabble, He’s not broken any laws.
You can crucify your king but I have not found any cause.
Said the mocking to the dying, So you’re called the Son of God?
Then come down if you are able; but if not, then die a fraud.
Said the soldiers to the naked, Now, you won’t be needing those.
You can watch us here below you as we gamble for your clothes.
Said the cynics to the gasping, Hail, the King, undying praise.
You had vowed to raze the temple, and rebuild it in three days.
Said the robber to the prophet, Save yourself and save us, too.
If you’d come down from the cross, then we might all believe in you.
Said the one thief to the other, Show respect in what you say;
We’ve done wrong — but He is blameless. Lord, remember me one day.
Said the Savior to the sinner, Simple faith has made you free;
When I come into My kingdom — yet today — you’ll be with Me.
Said the anguished to the Father, Why abandon Me, Your Son?
I have drunk the cup You’ve given — it’s now finished. It is done.
Said the angels to the mourning, Why seek life among the dead?
He’s not here as He had promised — He has risen as He said.
Said the Risen to the anxious, See My hands, My side and feet.
With My death I brought salvation; with My life, it’s now complete.
You will know him on my signal — I will kiss him on the cheek.
