Psalm 36
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD.
Sin whispers deep into the heart of the wicked;
they truly have no fear of God.
So conceited and wise are they, in their own eyes,
that they can't see how badly they're flawed.
The words of their mouth are deceitful and wicked;
they fail to act wisely and just.
Plotting trouble in bed, planning mischief ahead;
they don't reign in their evil and lust.
Your unfailing love, LORD, extends to the heavens;
your grace, beyond all I can see.
From the highest of mounts to the deepest of founts
is your justice and judgement to me.
O LORD, you preserve both the beasts and all people.
How precious is your steadfast love!
For the children of men know they're safe only when
in the shadow of your wings above.
They feast at your house from your table's abundance;
they drink from your streams you impart.
You're the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
Show your love to the upright in heart
Don't let me be crushed by the feet of the haughty,
nor driven away by their hand.
See the evil ones fall; they're thrown down one and all,
and defeated, they'll nevermore stand.

It felt good to get back into writing once more. As I explained in the previous poem, Psalm 35, I took nearly a 6-month break between writing in the Psalms. And, even after deciding to get back in front of the keyboard again, it took several weeks to finish Psalm 35. This one, however, really clicked and was finished in a day.
