Psalm 28
A psalm of David.
I cry unto you, LORD Jehovah!
My Rock, be not silent to it.
If you remain dumb, then I will become
like those going down to the pit.
Oh, hear my voice pleading for mercy,
and crying for your help and grace;
I lift my hand toward and reach for you, LORD,
your temple and Most Holy Place.
Don't drag me away with the wicked,
the ones who treat evil as art,
who speak cordially with the neighbors they see,
while malice resides in their heart.
Requite them for all of their evil,
the hateful things done at their hands.
Reward them a ton for the wicked they've done;
repay them as justice demands.
They hold no regard for Jehovah,
nor what he's created and willed;
for hubris and gall, he will tear down them all,
and never again there rebuild.
Jehovah! He's heard my petitions!
The LORD is my shield and my strength;
he's helped me — that's clear, now my heart's full of cheer.
I'll praise him in song at great length.
The LORD is the strength of his people;
protecting his chosen from harm.
Deliver your own, your possession alone;
forever hold them in your arms.
I cry unto you, LORD Jehovah!
My Rock, be not silent to it.
If you remain dumb, then I will become
like those going down to the pit.
