to him who created great lights to display,

allowing the sun to rule over the day,

the moon and the stars then to govern the night,

to him who struck down Egypt's firstborn outright,

brought Israel out of their midst without harm,

by God's mighty hand and his powerful arm,

to him who divided the Red Sea in two,

to him who let Israel pass safely through,

he overthrew Pharaoh and his men were drowned,

his people, he led across harsh desert ground,

the fiercest and greatest and kings of renown,

the king of the Amorites, Sihon, was killed,

and as an inheritance, where heathen dwell,
