Psalm 132
A song of ascents.
Call to memory, David, Jehovah,
and remember his hardships endured;
how he solemnly promised Jehovah,
vowed to Almighty God and assured:
Surely I won't go home nor will enter
my own chamber to rest on my bed;
and I won't allow my eyes to slumber,
nor my eyelids, though they feel like lead,
until I find a place for Jehovah,
and a home for Almighty, for good.
Then we heard of the ark at Ephratha
that was found in the field of the wood.
Let us go to the LORD's sanctuary;
at his footstool and throne, we will bow.
LORD, arise to the place of your resting,
you, along with the ark of your pow'r.
Let your priests clothe themselves with your justice!
Let your saints shout and joyfully sing!
For the sake of your servant — for David,
reject not your anointed, the king.
The LORD made a sworn oath unto David,
one that he'd surely never disown:
I will place one of your own descendants
on the seat of your glorious throne.
If your sons keep the terms of my statutes,
if my covenant is not ignored,
then your sons and their sons will be seated
upon your very throne evermore.
For the LORD has decided on Zion;
he has chosen it to be his home.
This is where I will rest now forever;
this is where I want to be enthroned.
I'll abundantly bless her provision;
sate her needy with bread that I bring.
I will clothe her priests with my salvation,
and her faithful will joyfully sing.
Here will I make a horn bud for David;
my anointed, my lamp will surround.
And his foes will I clothe with confusion,
but his head will be brilliantly crowned.
