May Christ This Season
May Christ this season grant us HOPE
To heal our broken homes:
To make amends with slighted friends
And cast them no more stones.
Revitalize our severed ties
With parent or with child;
May we forgive as He forgives —
Be truly reconciled.
May Christ this season bring us PEACE
To ease our troubled hearts:
To end the wars of “mine” and “yours” —
Such enmity it starts;
Let’s call a truce with self-abuse —
Our battles waged within;
May He re-forge our tongues — those swords —
Such idle tales we spin.
May Christ this season give us JOY
To soothe our saddened souls:
To ease the pain when dreams remain
Just empty, fruitless goals.
May we find hope and strength to cope
With all that life can give;
Relinquish stress and loneliness —
There’s so much life to live.
May Christ this season show us LOVE
To share with other lives:
To somehow see unbiasedly
The world through clearer eyes;
To better hear with opened ears
Their silent, helpless pleas;
For Christ, He gave, from birth to grave,
His selfless love for these.
