If
If the four walls could speak,
And the ceiling as well, With the floor and the door — What grand tales they could tell. Had the curtains an ear I would certainly fear All the stories they might wish to leak. If your secrets were read In the headlines each day; If each thought could be bought To be put on display; If a journal could air Your internal thoughts there — Would they censor what went through your head? If the Lord passed our way And He stopped at our place, Would He mind if we dined Without pausing for grace? Would the TV be viewed Or would we be more shrewd? Would our laughter evoke Still, then, after that joke? Would His visit seem strange — Just what is it we’d change If the Lord came to visit today? |
