High Tower and Fortress
I am a mighty tower —
Forever shall I stand.
Your enemies can never seize
You from My nail-pierced hand.
Though chains of hell surround you,
And snares of death assail,
No fiery dart can touch your heart:
No evil can prevail.
There’s safety in My stronghold —
My bulwark cannot fall;
My power and love are strong enough
To keep you, one and all.
I am a mighty fortress —
Who dares to bring assault?
Whose bow can hit My parapet?
My rampart — who can vault?
Your enemies are many.
Your options, though, are few.
But live by faith — I’ll keep you safe
Until the battle’s through.
And when the war is over,
When victory has come,
I’ll come one day and lead the way
To take My faithful home.
Forever shall I stand.
Your enemies can never seize
You from My nail-pierced hand.
Though chains of hell surround you,
And snares of death assail,
No fiery dart can touch your heart:
No evil can prevail.
There’s safety in My stronghold —
My bulwark cannot fall;
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
