The Heart of Worship
Based on Revelation 4:11; Psalm 113:3; Isaiah 29:13; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:23
For pleasure, I made you — for joy, you exist;
for fellowship, I gave you life.
I long for your voice in the cool morning mist,
your call in the still of the night.
With words, I am honored — in song, I am loved;
your prayers — they have set me apart.
Of all of these facets, I hold one above:
that worship comes straight from your heart.
Some words I find empty; some music — mere noise.
Some prayers have been offered by fools
with lips so unclean that I can’t hear their voice;
their worship is nothing but rules.
For I do not dwell in the buildings men build;
my altar is not made of stone.
But, rather, I live in the hearts that I’ve filled —
it’s there that I sit on my throne.
Whatever you eat and whatever you drink,
whatever you do or you speak:
do all for my glory and not what men think,
for this is the pleasure I seek.
for fellowship, I gave you life.
I long for your voice in the cool morning mist,
your call in the still of the night.
With words, I am honored — in song, I am loved;
your prayers — they have set me apart.

These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.
