Based on the scriptures found in The Purpose-Driven Life – Day 6

Hello, Goodbye

Job 8:9; Psalm 39:4; 1 Peter 2:11; Psalm 119:19;
 2 Corinthians 5:20; 1 Corinthians 7:31; 2 Corinthians 4:18
Life is but a shadow
that soon will disappear.
Born yesterday, tomorrow — gone!
Like we were never here.
Remind me, Lord, how brief life is;
that heaven is my goal;
that temporary things aren’t worth
the forfeit of my soul.

Life is but a moment
that never can suffice.
We’re foreigners — just passing through,
ambassadors for Christ.
Lord, help me not become attached
to those things I can see.
Instead, by faith, love things unseen
that last eternally.

Job 8:9 (NLT)
For we were born but yesterday . . . .  Our days on earth are as transient as a shadow.
Psalm 39:4 (NLT)
Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.  Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away.
1 Peter 2:11 (Msg)
Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it.  Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul.
Psalm 119:19 (NLT)
I am but a foreigner here on earth.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
We are Christ’s ambassadors.
1 Corinthians 7:31 (NLT)
Those in frequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for this world and all it contains will pass away.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

NLT: New Living Translation   •    Msg: The Message   •   NIV: New International Version
