What do you have that I’ve not given?
There is nothing that you own.
Why boast of wealth — the house you live in?
These are merely things on loan.
Don’t let this wicked world conform you;
leave its evil ways behind.
But, rather, let my love transform you;
ask me to renew your mind.
I won’t allow you to be tempted
more than I know you can take;
I’ll give you power to preempt it
with a pathway of escape.
How blessed are the ones who bear it —
when temptation is ignored;
they’ll take their crown of life and wear it —
everyone that loves the Lord.
For much will always be demanded
from those whom were given more.
If faithful with small things you’re handed,
larger things will be in store.
