Based on the scriptures found in The Purpose-Driven Life – Day 3

Got Hope?

Part 1
Part 1: Based on Ecclesiastics 4:4; Isaiah 49:4; Job 7:6
Rung after rung on this ladder I climb,
so, why can I not reach the top?
Goal after goal — am I wasting my time?
This merry-go-round will not stop!

Day after day, I have labored in vain,
because I have nothing to show.
Dream after dream have been flushed down the drain;
and, surely I reap what I sow.

Night after night, I just stare into space
for my situation is great.
Tear after tear I have wiped from my face;
how long can I shoulder this weight?
Part 2
Part 2: Based on Jeremiah 29:11; Ephesians 3:20;
Ephesians 5:17; Philippians 3:15; Philippians 3:13;
Matthew 6:24; Psalm 32:1; Romans 14:10b, 12
I know the plans I have for you — your future’s bright, you’ll see;
because I’ve had forever to design your destiny.
And I can do far greater things than you could ever hope;
not even in your wildest dreams — beyond your mortal scope.

Don’t live a careless life — instead, keep focused on your goal;
forget the past and look ahead, and know I’m in control.
You cannot serve two masters since you cannot love them both.
For one of them, you’ll love to death; the other, you will loathe.

What joy for those whose guilt is cleared; remembered — nevermore!
Relieved of sin that’s disappeared — confessed before the Lord.
Know one day each of us will stand before the judgement throne,
accounting for — at God’s command — this life we’ve had on loan.

Ecclesiastics 4:4 (LB)
I observed that the basic motive for success is the driving force of envy and jealousy!
Isaiah 49:4 (NIV)
I have labored to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing.
Job 7:6 (LB)
My life drags by – day after hopeless day.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NCV)
I know what I am planning for you . . . . “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you.  I will give you hope and a good future.”
Ephesians 3:20 (LB)
God . . . is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of – infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.
Ephesians 5:17 (Msg)
Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly.  Make sure you understand what the Master wants.
Philippians 3:15 (Msg)
Let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us.
Philippians 3:13 (NLT)
I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
Matthew 6:24 (NLT)
No one can serve two masters.
Psalm 32:1 (LB)
What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven! . . .  What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record.
Romans 14: 10b, 12 (NLT)
Remember, each of us will stand personally before the judgment seat of God . . . . Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God.
