Ballade of New Beginnings
The morning brings a fresh new day,
And oh — ‘tis such a welcome sight To see the sunrise chase away The hooded cloak of gloomy night; To feel the sunrays put to flight The night-chilled air and early dew. Each day the sun ascends the height, We have the chance to start anew. Though I should wake to skies of gray, Or falling rain, severe or slight; I’d have no right to feel dismay Because it wasn’t clear and bright. Or should I wake to fields of white, If snowdrifts blocked my window-view, I’d still find warmth in winter’s bite To have the chance to start anew. Each morning is a grand display Of God’s great power and endless might, That demonstrates in bright array New life — a fresh new start despite Past failures, doubts, despair or fright — Behold! Our yesterdays are through; Today, no matter what our plight, We have the chance to start anew. Envoy Each day we rise with heaven’s light, New hope is given me and you; Our strength restored to fit the fight, To take the chance to start anew. |
