A Mother's Prayer
As faithful as the morning sun —
Suspended in the air,
Providing life for everyone —
So is a mother’s prayer.
From pole to pole, from sea to sea,
No matter — night or day;
From every nationality —
Another starts to pray.
Her faith can scale the highest peak
A mountain can ascend.
Her hope can cross the oceans — deep
On waves that have no end.
Her love can melt the coldest heart,
And crumble walls of stone.
Her family near or far apart —
She prays for every one.
Sometimes she’ll pray for many years
Before her dream she sees;
Yet few will know the trail of tears
She’s traveled on her knees.
The world is full of broken homes,
Of sorrow and despair;
But faithful as the morning comes,
So is a mother’s prayer.
Suspended in the air,
Providing life for everyone —
So is a mother’s prayer.
From pole to pole, from sea to sea,
No matter — night or day;
From every nationality —
Another starts to pray.
Her faith can scale the highest peak
A mountain can ascend.
Her hope can cross the oceans — deep
On waves that have no end.
Her love can melt the coldest heart,
And crumble walls of stone.
Her family near or far apart —
She prays for every one.
Sometimes she’ll pray for many years
Before her dream she sees;
Yet few will know the trail of tears
She’s traveled on her knees.
The world is full of broken homes,
Of sorrow and despair;
But faithful as the morning comes,
So is a mother’s prayer.
