The Great Physician
I am the good Physician —
Cast all thy cares on Me,
And place thy pain beneath the stain
Of blood I've shed for thee.
I've power over illness.
I make the blind to see,
The lame to walk, the mute to talk,
The cancer cease to be.
I'll heal thy broken body,
And cure the leper's sore;
I'll cause the dead to leave their bed
And live their lives once more.
I am the great Physician —
The source of life and breath.
I yearn to see My children free
Of sickness, pain, and death.
But freewill, in the garden,
Chose darkness over light.
There, Satan's claws rewrote the laws
That govern day and night.
Now in this far-flung shadow
Perfection is no more,
And cursed is flesh with brokenness
Where wholeness was before.
Cast all thy cares on Me,
And place thy pain beneath the stain
Of blood I've shed for thee.
I've power over illness.
I make the blind to see,
The lame to walk, the mute to talk,
The cancer cease to be.
I'll heal thy broken body,
And cure the leper's sore;
I'll cause the dead to leave their bed
And live their lives once more.
I am the great Physician —
The source of life and breath.
I yearn to see My children free
Of sickness, pain, and death.
But freewill, in the garden,
Chose darkness over light.
There, Satan's claws rewrote the laws
That govern day and night.
Now in this far-flung shadow
Perfection is no more,
And cursed is flesh with brokenness
Where wholeness was before.
But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick."
