Sunset, Moonrise
In the west the sun is setting,
Fading slowly from my eye.
Dark once more — I’m oft’ forgetting
That it lights another sky.
In the east the moon is rising,
Climbing higher into space.
Back once more, I’m realizing,
From a far-off, distant place.
Earth is large — it keeps on turning
Every day and every night.
Larger still, the sun keeps burning,
Giving warmth and shedding light.
Galaxies are God-created:
Planets, stars — all from His Hand.
Universe seems unabated —
Starts and ends at His command.
Fading slowly from my eye.
Dark once more — I’m oft’ forgetting
That it lights another sky.
In the east the moon is rising,
Climbing higher into space.
Back once more, I’m realizing,
From a far-off, distant place.
Earth is large — it keeps on turning
Every day and every night.
Larger still, the sun keeps burning,
Giving warmth and shedding light.
Galaxies are God-created:
Planets, stars — all from His Hand.
Universe seems unabated —
Starts and ends at His command.
