Psalm 66
For the director of music. A song. A psalm.
Make a joyful noise, earth! Make your shouts known to God!
To his glorious name, bring him honor and laud.
Say to God, Oh, how great are the deeds that you do!
With your terrible power foes cringe before you.
All the earth bows before you with praise to proclaim,
and they lift up a song to your wonderful name.
Selah [Interlude]
Come and see all the works that God's done with his hand;
his magnificent feats for the children of man.
The Red Sea was made dry for his people to cross;
we rejoiced then and there that we suffered no loss.
Ruling ever with power, the nations he's eyed;
do not let the rebellious rise up in their pride.
Selah [Interlude]
Bless our God, all you people! Let praises resound.
He's upholding our lives lest we slip and fall down.
We've been tested, refined just as silver's made pure.
You've imprisoned us, given us loads to endure.
You've caused men to run through us; braved water and flame.
But with you to a place of abundance we came.
To your house I'll bring off'rings and vows I professed —
every vow my lips promised while deeply distressed.
I will offer to sacrifice my fattened lambs —
bulls and goats with the sweet smell of sacrificed rams.
Selah [Interlude]
Come and hear, who fear God, and I'll tell what he's done.
I cried out with my mouth with his praise on my tongue.
If I cherished my sin, the LORD would not have heard.
But God did hear my prayer, and paid heed to each word.
Praise to God, for he has not rejected my plea,
nor withheld his great love and devotion from me.
Make a joyful noise, earth! Make your shouts known to God!
To his glorious name, bring him honor and laud.
