Psalm 129
A song of ascents.
I've been greatly oppressed since my youth,
says all Israel in victory.
I've been greatly oppressed since my youth,
but they've never prevailed over me.
Oh, the plowmen have plowed up my back,
and the furrows they've plowed have been long.
But the LORD has been righteous and good,
and has freed me from cords of the strong.
Let them all be confounded and shamed,
and turned back in disgrace when they go.
May they be like grass grown on the roof,
that will wither before it can grow;
where it can't fill the harvesters' hands,
nor the arms of the binder to claim.
May those passing by not bless you with:
The LORD bless you; be blest in his name.
I've been greatly oppressed since my youth,
says all Israel in victory.
I've been greatly oppressed since my youth,
but they've never prevailed over me.
Oh, the plowmen have plowed up my back,
and the furrows they've plowed have been long.
But the LORD has been righteous and good,
and has freed me from cords of the strong.
Let them all be confounded and shamed,
and turned back in disgrace when they go.
May they be like grass grown on the roof,
that will wither before it can grow;
where it can't fill the harvesters' hands,
nor the arms of the binder to claim.
May those passing by not bless you with:
The LORD bless you; be blest in his name.
