Psalm 114

When Israel came out of Egypt,
escaping through oceans of sand —
when Jacob abandoned the language
and people from that foreign land —

then Judah became God's dominion,
and Israel, his holy place.
The Red Sea took notice and fled them,
the Jordan then turned about-face;

the mountains, like rams, leaped and frolicked,
the hills, were like lambs hard at play!
What happened, o sea, that you vanished?
Why, Jordan, did you turn away?

Why, mountains, were you like rams dancing?
Why, hills, did lambs play on your sod?
O earth, at the LORD's presence, tremble;
the presence of Israel's God.

From the rock, pools of water he brought them;
from the flint, springs of water they got then.
