Job 42

Job's Final Response to the LORD

or

Dust and Ashes

based on Job 42
I repent in dust and ashes
Job 42:6

Then Job replied to the Lord:

Lord, I know that you can do whatever you plan;
for your purpose, no man can oppose.
You asked, Who is this one who decries what I've done
and displays just how little he knows?

I've said things that I thought were correct but are not,
and learned things much too wondrous to be.
You have said, I will speak! You have answers I seek;
I demand that you now answer me!

I've heard rumors of you but I now know they're true;
since I've seen you at last, I'm content.
I retract every word and abhor what you've heard;
in my ashes and dust, I repent.
