Job 26:14
Job 26:14
Then Job spoke again:
You have helped those in need of your wisdom, indeed!
You have given them reason to live!
For your council is wise — it has opened my eyes!
So abundant, this insight you give!
Now, to whom did you say all these wise things today?
And whose spirit spoke through you, as well?
Know the ghosts of the dead are now trembling with dread,
beneath waters where those creatures dwell.
Hell is naked and lies in full view of God’s eyes;
and the place of destruction is bare.
Northern skies are deployed to stretch over the void,
and the earth hangs on nothing but air.
And he gathers the rain into thick clouds that strain,
yet the clouds do not burst from their weight.
He has covered the face of his throne from our race;
with his clouds he enshrouds heaven’s gate.
All the bounds of the sea have been set by decree,
and the day becomes night just as planned.
Heaven’s pillars awake and they tremble and shake,
so amazed as they hear his command.
By his might, oceans swelled; by his strength, waves are quelled;
by his wisdom, the sea monster’s hushed.
By his breath, heavens clear so his lights can appear;
by his hand has the serpent been crushed.
Behold, these are a few of the things he can do;
a faint whisper, however so slight.
Who can fathom the ways of his wondrous displays,
comprehend all his thunderous might?
You have given them reason to live!
For your council is wise — it has opened my eyes!
So abundant, this insight you give!
