Isaiah 55

Invitation to the Needy
Come, all who are thirsty, and drink from the waters;
and those without money, come too!
Buy wine and buy milk without gold, without silver —
it's free and costs nothing to you.
Why spend money buying bread that does not nourish?
Why labor for what is not good?
 Now, listen to me and consume what is wholesome,
delighting your soul in rich food.
Now, harken and come to me with your ears open,
and listen that your soul may live.
The permanent covenant I made with David,
the same vow, to you, will I give.
I made him a witness for nations to see,
commander and leader of people, was he.
You'll summon the nations, of which you've no knowledge,
while nations come you never knew,
because your LORD God, and the One who is Holy,
has showered his glory on you.
Seek Yahweh while he may be found;
and call him while he's still around.
Let wicked men leave ways and thoughts that are evil,
and let them return to the LORD;
and on them he'll shower compassion and mercy,
forgiveness, to them, he'll afford.

For my thoughts and your thoughts just do not align,
and neither are your ways remotely like mine,
declares the LORD.
Isaiah 55:8b • BSB
For just as the heavens are higher than earth,
so my ways and my thoughts eclipse yours in worth.
For just as the rain and snow fall from the heavens,
and do not return until earth has been fed
with water to bring forth the bud and providing
for farmers, their seed, and the hungry, their bread.
With joy, you'll go out and be peacefully guided;
the mountains and hills through the lands
shall break forth before you, rejoicing and singing,
while trees of the fields clap their hands.
The cypress will grow where there once had been thornbush,
the briar, by the myrtle, displaced.
And this makes a name for the LORD, everlasting
a sign that shall not be erased.
