Isaiah 54

Future Blessings of Zion
Sing, O sing, barren woman!  Rejoice!
For the children that you never bore.
And break forth into song with your voice,
you who never have labored before.
For the sons of the barren are more
than the offspring that married wives bore,
says the LORD.
Isaiah 54:1b • BSB
So, enlarge, then, a place in your tent,
let your curtains stretch out for their sakes;
and spare not — disregard money spent,
lengthen cords and dig deeper your stakes.
You'll spread out to the left and the right,
over land your descendants have filled;
they'll possess, without warfare or might,
ruined cities that they did not build.
Have no fear, for you'll be shamed no more,
nor confounded — you'll not be disgraced;
you'll forget youthful shame years before,
the reproach, as a widow, you faced.
For your Maker's your husband, as well —
and as Yahweh of Hosts is He known;
He's the Holy One of Israel,
and the God of the whole earth, alone.
For the LORD's called you back like a wife,
who was wounded, and dealt with the blow
of divorce in her earlier life
from her husband of youth long ago,
says your God.
Isaiah 54:6b • BSB

For a moment I left you before;
but with love I'll embrace you once more.
For a moment — brief moment — of rage,
was my face turned away from your view;
but with love everlasting the age,
will I shower compassion on you,
says the LORD your Redeemer.
Isaiah 54:8b • BSB

Like the days when to Noah I swore
with a promise to him that I gave,
that the earth would be flooded no more,
nor be doomed to a watery grave.
So my anger with you I'll withhold,
and your punishment will not unfold.
Though the mountains be moved and displaced,
and the hills disappear from their range,
know my love for you can't be erased,
and my promise of peace will not change,
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10b • BSB

O afflicted and desolate ones,
poor Jerusalem, full of dismay!
I'll rebuild you with beautiful stones,
your foundations, with sapphires, lay.
And your towers, with rubies, I'll build,
and your gates, out of beryl, will shine;
and your walls of defense will be filled
with the precious stones that I design.
Then the LORD will teach your sons as well,
and your children will prosper in peace.
And, in righteousness, you will then dwell,
your oppression and torment will cease;
and from terror, you'll no longer fear,
for it certainly will not come near.
If attacked by those stirring up strife,
it is not through me that they assail.
For whoever comes seeking your life,
for your sake, will not ever prevail.
It is I who's created the smith
who has fanned the coals into a fire,
who then forges a weapon forthwith
for the purposes of his desire.
It is I who — the armies — have made,
 the destoyer, whose havoc's displayed.
You'll prevail against weapons they've forged,
and refute lies from your enemy.
This inheritance is of the LORD's;
vindication for them is from Me,
declares the LORD.
